COVID-19 Appeal

Brisbane needs your help in its hour of need

COVID-19 has devastated our Brisbane community. People have lost their jobs, their dreams and their hopes.

The charities of Brisbane are standing up to help our friends and neighbours. They’re putting food on tables, roofs over heads and giving hope to those who need it most.

But they need help.

The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust’s Brisbane COVID-19 Appeal is raising money that will directly go to the grassroots charities that are helping our fellow Brisbane residents who need it most. Every single dollar donated will go to the charities, making a real difference in the streets, homes and communities of Brisbane.

Even in the good times, these grassroot charities often run on a shoestring budget, but the devastation of COVID-19 means that there is a need to help even more people with less resources available.

The money from this appeal will help these incredible organisations keep their doors open and the lights on, so they continue to give help and hope to those in need.

 Establishing "Small Steps 4 Hannah"

At the request of Hannah’s parents, the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust is assisting the family to establish a charity called "Small Steps 4 Hannah" which honours Hannah’s legacy and addresses domestic violence.

The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust is collecting funds to establish the charity and its important work.

If you would like to donate to this cause, please visit our GoFundMe page "Establishing "Small Steps 4 Hannah".

Hannah's family thank you for your consideration and generosity.

Bushfire Appeal

The 2019/20 bushfire season has been one of the worst on record for Australia.

For the April quarter, residential owner-occupier ratepayers can support bushfire relief by choosing to donate their $15 early payment discount to the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust.

Simply select the donation option when paying your rate account, and your $15 donation will be passed to the Trust for bushfire relief.

The Trust is a registered charity under the Collections Act 1966. Donations are tax deductible and a separate receipt will be issued by Council.

For more information, please contact Council on 07 3403 8888.

About Us

For more than 50 years, the Trust’s fundraising efforts have improved the wellbeing of the most marginalised, vulnerable members of the Brisbane community.

Established in the 1960s, the Trust continues the good work of the Lord Mayor whose mission is to improve liveability for all Brisbane's residents.

The Trust works to support charities that assist people suffering from disability, homelessness, mental illness, drug or alcohol addiction, trauma, abuse or neglect.

Every dollar donated to the Trust is re-given to those in need.

Corporate partners, community groups and individual benefactors can be confident donating to the Trust because of its ability to identify charities in genuine need of support.

Many corporate donors choose the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust because a single donation is distributed to many needy charities, taking away the hours of work needed to identify suitable philanthropic opportunities.

Every dollar you donate to the Trust is re-given. A single donation can assist many worthy causes. The Trust's strict due diligence process does all the hard work for you and enables your donation to really make a difference.

The Trust seeks out Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status charities that provide prevention strategies and support services for people and families who live with disability, are homeless, suffering mental illness or who offer services for drug or alcohol addiction, trauma, abuse or neglect.
