2013 Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust Gala Ball

After three years of extensive restoration works, the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust Gala Ball celebrated the reopening of City Hall in the grandest of style. The rainfall did not dampen spirits, but did mean that guests were given an earlier than expected viewing of City Hall when pre dinner drinks were moved from King George Square to the foyer. The 1920s theme saw nearly all guests choosing to travel back to the roaring twenties and dress with appropriate flair.

The Main Auditorium was beautifully presented with an elegant black and white theme, offset by exquisite crystal table centrepieces. Epicure and Sirromet Wines partnered to provide guests with sumptuous food and wine.

The entertainment did not disappoint with Charleston dancers wowing the crowd, jazz band Passionfruit filling the dance floor, and Opera Queensland providing a thrilling performance also reminiscent of the era.

The MCs, Emily-Jade O'Keefe and Rupert McCall, did a fantastic job with the night running smoothly. An additional standout feature for guests of the newly refurbished Main Auditorium, was the resplendent dome and it's continual changing of colour.

The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress gave thanks to all of those generous enough to show their support by either corporate sponsorship of the ball, purchasing tickets, participating in the auctions or trying their luck with the raffles. Every contribution was enormously valued with the Trust raising just over $107,000 on the evening. The wonderful contingent of volunteers also assisted in ensuring the evening's successful outcome.

And to top it all off, a great night was had by all...
